The Rev. John Dear, a 2008 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, will be the featured speaker at a fundraising effort beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday for the SSJ Sister Karen Klimczak Center for Nonviolence.

Tickets for the event at Medaille College are $25 and are available by calling 362-9688, online at sisterkarencenter.org, or at the door.

Dear will discuss his latest book, “The Nonviolent Life,” and a reception and book signing will follow.

Dear is an internationally known voice for peace and nonviolence who was described by Archbishop Desmond Tutu as “the embodiment of a peacemaker” when he nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008.
