Falls man arrested in Wednesday purse-snatching

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man is accused of knocking down a woman and running off with her purse about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in an alley in the 400 block of 10th Street.

Javon J. Evans, 33, of Niagara Falls Boulevard, is charged with third-degree robbery and petit larceny.

The victim told police a man wearing a hoody with a black bandana around his forehead ran up alongside her, snatched her purse and then pushed her down. She said the purse contained about $20, makeup and an electronic tablet.

Rural/Metro ambulance tipped off police to the suspect, who was arrested in a county building on Tenth Street, police said.
