A man and his “best friend” managed to rescue themselves this morning after falling into Lake Erie by Fuhrmann Boulevard, authorities said.
At about 9:10 a.m., Buffalo firefighters responded to a call of a man in the water off the old pier at 325 Fuhrmann Boulevard. When firefighters arrived, they were told that a dog owner had gone into the water to rescue his pet, which had fallen through ice into the chilly harbor.
However, all is well that ends well. Firefighters found out that the man and his dog had both managed to get safely out of the water on their own, fire officials said.
