A Mexican citizen living in Chicago was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to nearly 11 years in prison.

Adalid Ayala, 39, was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine for his role in an alleged Chicago to Buffalo drug trafficking ring.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas S. Duszkiewicz said Ayala was one of the seven defendants in the case, all of whom have been convicted.

Ayala’s sentence is the result of an investigation by the Buffalo office of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
