Bisons game in Rochester rained out

It’s been a wet start to the season for the Buffalo Bisons. For the second day in a row the Herd was rained out as Saturday’s contest in Rochester was called off due to inclement weather.

The teams will try again today at 2 p.m. at Frontier Field, the first pitch an hour later than originally scheduled. Saturday’s game will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the Bisons visit Rochester on July 6.

There was plenty of movement off the field as the Toronto Blue Jays announced they have purchased the contract of Marcus Walden and that recently signed infielder Juan Francisco has been activated.

The Bisons also announced that outfielder Ricardo Nanita has been placed on the DL, retroactive to Thursday, and pitcher John Stilson has been placed on the temporary inactive list, retroactive to Friday.

Walden pitched a scoreless inning in Thursday’s win over Rochester. Last season he made 26 starts for New Hampshire of the Eastern League. Francisco split the 2013 season between Atlanta (35 games) and Milwaukee (89). Stilson also pitched on Thursday, allowing a run on a hit in 0.2 innings. Nanita has not appeared in a game for the Bisons yet.
