Bandits with handgun hold up 7-Eleven in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – Two men used a handgun to rob the 7-Eleven store at 2824 Pine Ave. early Saturday – the second such attempt on a local 7-Eleven in just over 24 hours.

Police said the robbers, described only as two black men, wearing hoodies with bandannas over their faces, robbed the store hortly before 2 a.m. One pulled a handgun from the waistband of his pants and threatened a cashier, who handed over a cash register drawer containing an undetermined amount of cash, police said. The two fled on foot, west down 29th Street.

Aboth midnight Thursday, a man attempted to rob the 7-Eleven store on Plaza Drive in Wheatfield, but was thwarted by a defiant clerk. The woman called police upon seeing the man enter the store, carrying a closed pocket kife in his hand. He tried unsuccessfully to open two cash registers before fleeing on foot. That suspect was described as a white male, about 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds.
