Construction will resume next week on the Route 5 & 20 bridge that crosses Cattaraugus Creek in western Erie and Chautauqua counties, according to a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation.

Beginning Monday, motorists should expect to encounter a lane shift in the vicinity of the bridge. The shift is necessary to begin paving on the Chautauqua County side, the spokeswoman said.

The work is expected to take approximately 8 to 10 weeks, but could be delayed because of inclement weather.
