LOCKPORT – The Town Board agreed Wednesday to sponsor a visit next year by one of the traveling replicas of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The board voted to pay a $1,000 deposit toward the $7,500 cost of booking the wall for June 11-14, 2015, Town Supervisor Marc R. Smith said. The remaining costs will be inserted in the 2015 town budget. Smith said the town likely will budget $10,000, which will include ancillary costs such as a tent and some mulch in case rain turns the site, the front yard of Town Hall, into a muddy area. There will be no charge for the public to view the wall.

Also Wednesday, the board hired the Walsh Group of West Seneca for $2,000 to analyze the town’s current employee health insurance plan and suggest ways to save money.

Also, the board bought two large Kubota lawn mowers for the Water Department from Bentley Bros. of Albion for $19,259. The board voted to place two old mowers up for online auction, along with a 1973 road grader, a 1999 dump truck, a 1998 hydraulic attachment and a 2002 pickup truck.
