Probation extended for burglar who stole credit card

LOCKPORT - A man already on probation for a 2012 Lewiston burglary had three years of further probation added Wednesday for the theft of a woman’s credit card last July.

Brian E. Schmiege, 26, of Balmer Road, Porter, was ordered by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. to repay $359.81 to First Niagara Bank, which reimbursed the victim.

Schmiege had pleaded guilty to third-degree identity theft and petit larceny.

In another probation case Wednesday, Renee L. Harris, 43, of Lewiston, was sentenced to a year in the Niagara County Jail for violating probation on a 2011 felony driving while intoxicated conviction.

County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkaw said Harris broke probation by not paying her $5,000 fine and by misusing prescription drugs.
