Ramirez ignores facts while slamming Obama
Michael Ramirez’s editorial cartoons are getting so sad. His bankruptcy of ideas was obvious in his March 25 cartoon, which included a president from 40 years ago.
His idea was that President Obama is worse than former President Jimmy Carter. It seems to be conveniently forgetful, but let’s review. Two of the biggest things against Carter were the hostage crisis, where radicals took over our embassy in Iran and nothing came of it, and boycotting the 1980 Summer Olympics after the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, which accomplished zip.
Let’s look at Obama’s foreign policy so far. True Crimea isn’t working as well as he’d like, but his critics have nothing specific to offer that isn’t being done. What else? He aided Libyan rebels, who captured and killed Moammar Gadhafi. He ordered the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. And he was president during the rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips, who was held hostage by Somali pirates.
But truthfully, even Carter couldn’t qualify as the worst president ever because he didn’t waste more than 3,000 American lives and billions upon billions of dollars to discover imaginary weapons of mass destruction.
