BATAVIA – High-tech has invaded the halls of government in Genesee County, where legislators this week were issued iPads.
In an effort to join the paperless society, each of the nine legislators began using the devices with varying degrees of success – generally tied to the age of the user.
The county, according to Legislature Chairman Raymond F. Cianfrini, spends $35,000 a year on printing material for the body. It prints more than one million sheets of paper each year for agendas, resolutions and background material.
The iPads will allow most, if not all, of the legislative paperwork to be done without paper.
