The annual banquet of the IAABO Board 53 Basketball Officials was held March 14 at Ilio DiPaolos Restaurant. The following officers were elected: President: Ben Bluman. Directors: Dan Finucane, Ken Harris, Michael O’Bryan, George Siefert. Don Neubauer was named to the Board 53 IAABO Hall of Fame. Gary Raimondo won the Nostrant/Schlee Award. The WNY Basketball Officials Sportsmanship Award was given to City Honors coach John Kudla. 50 Year Awards were presented to Jim Nowicki, Bob Miske and Jerry Stockman. 25 Year Awards were presented to Michael Fillmore, Pedro Hernandez, Chris Kogut and Ken Turner.
BASEBALL: Kenmore East and Kenmore West high schools are having a mattress sale fundraiser Sunday, March 30, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the old gym at Kenmore West High School, 33 Highland Pkwy., Town of Tonawanda. New mattresses with factory warranties will be sold at costs 40-60 percent below retail. A full showroom will be set up.
