Clean all boats in battle against invasive mussels

In response to the article on the use of bacteria to eliminate quagga and zebra mussels in the Great Lakes, there could be an additional step to help with this problem.

Instead of concentrating on spending money to clean up the waters after the contaminated boats have entered the Hudson River and Saint Lawrence Seaway, a better method may be that all boats should be thoroughly cleaned and have all mussels and contaminants removed as they come through the locks. If cleaning the boats before entry and eliminating the current mussel populations via bacteria were done concurrently, the mussel problem may finally be solved and our lakes healthy again.
