Java man arrested in domestic incident

A 36-year-old Town of Java man was arrested Monday morning by Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputies after a domestic incident was reported at his home.

Kenneth Pleace, age 36, was charged with strangulation, menacing, coercion and unlawful imprisonment – all in the second degree, and third degree assault in connection with the incident, according to Captain Steven M. Stenson of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.

Stenson said the incident started in the early morning hours when Please and a woman engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. When the woman tried to leave, Stenson said, Pleace forced her back into the residence. Shortly after 10 a.m., the women was able to escape and request medical assistance.

Pleace is due back in Wyoming County court at 7 p.m. May 1.
