Coach Jay Wright’s first coaching job came as an assistant at the University of Rochester in 1984. He became a head coach for the first time in 1994 at Hofstra, and joined the Wildcats in 2001. He has taken Villanova to the NCAA Tournament in nine of the last 10 seasons.

Senior guard James Bell leads the Wildcats in scoring at 14.5 points per game. Since the start of last season, the Wildcats are 28-5 when Bell scores in double figures.

Junior guard Darrun Hilliard and sophomore forward Daniel Ochefu shared the Big East Most Improved Player award. Hilliard has been the Wildcats’ best scorer the past month, shooting .533 from the field (48 of 90) and .500 (24 of 48) from three-point range while averaging 16.2 points per game.

Junior JayVaughn Pinkston is one of three Villanova players to average more than 14 points per game (14.2), joining Bell and Hilliard (14.3). Pinkston is the Wildcats’ best option in the low post, with a .526 field-goal percentage.
