CWM announces annual tax payments

PORTER – CWM Chemical Services announced Monday that it has made its annual gross receipts tax payments to the towns of Porter and Lewiston and to the three school districts that serve parts of those towns.

The total payment for 2013 was $409,891, which is less than half of the $892,994 payout for 2012.

The hazardous waste disposal company is required to pay 6 percent of gross receipts on landfilled waste to the host communities each year.

The two towns receive one-third each, while the Lewiston-Porter, Wilson and Niagara Wheatfield school districts divide the third share based on their proportion of the three districts’ total enrollment.

The figures, rounded to the nearest dollar, show that the towns received $136,630 each.

• The Lew-Port school was paid $99,794.

• Niagara Wheatfield was paid $29,624.

• The Wilson district received $7,213.

The figures also mean that CWM’s gross receipts in 2013 topped $6.83 million.
