Twenty-eight women, from educators to artists to business owners, will be honored at the fifth annual Roses for Outstanding Women awards program at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the Central Library auditorium in Buffalo.

The awards program recognizes women from a variety of backgrounds for their contributions to the community. The program was founded by retired educator Eva M. Doyle in observance of Women’s History Month.

Each woman will receive a red rose, a certificate of recognition from the Erie County Legislature and a booklet with all of their biographies included. The public is invited to the free program.
