Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown had one message for city residents during today’s snowstorm: Stay home.
Although pleased with the city’s response to the weather, Brown said residents who do not need to travel should stay off the roads.
“We ask everyone to be mindful,” Brown said. “Conditions are supposed to get worse.”
Brown’s advisory came during a late-morning news conference at the city’s garage on Broadway.
The city closed down City Hall earlier in the day, with just essential personnel such as police and fire fighters reporting. Brown noted that some other city employees voluntarily reported to work to assist residents.
“Mother Nature is Mother Nature,” he said. “But we have some of the most experience snow-fighting personnel.”
City staffers also noted that despite the bad weather the city was not relaxing its restrictions on neighborhood parking so that plows can get down them.
