LOCKPORT – An Amherst man pleaded guilty Tuesday in State Supreme Court to selling crack cocaine to a police informant July 31 in North Tonawanda.

Eddie L. Lovett, 32, of Bailey Avenue, admitted to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and was assigned by Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.

If Lovett succeeds in the program, his charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a probation sentence, but if he fails, he could be sentenced to state prison for as long as nine years.
