Foul play probably not a factor in Lockport death

LOCKPORT – The death of a 37-year-old woman in a Lockport home Friday night was probably not the result of foul play, Police Chief Lawrence M. Eggert said Sunday.

The woman died at 290 Niagara St. Her name has not been released.

Eggert said an autopsy has been ordered and toxicology tests may be needed to determine the cause of death.

At 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Detective Kevin Schrader arrested another resident of 290 Niagara, Nelson Roman, 56, and charged him with a misdemeanor count of making a false statement during the investigation into the woman’s death. The nature of that statement was not disclosed.
