A loaded .380 caliber handgun was confiscated Thursday from a 36-year-old Chautauqua County man who told authorities at the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga that he had mistakenly left the gun in his carry-on luggage.

Troy Livecche of Silver Creek was stopped when the Transportation Security Administration was alerted that the handgun was spotted as Livecche walked through a checkpoint X-ray machine. Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority police confiscated the handgun, for which Livecche has a license.

Authorities are considering whether to file charges against him. The handgun reportedly was loaded with six bullets, including one in the chamber.
