Buffalo man jailed for breaking into ex-wife’s house

A 56-year-old Buffalo man was ordered by Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul S. Piotrowski Thursday to spend up to the next four months in the Erie County Correctional Facility for breaking into his former wife’s home Saturday on Atwood Place in Cheektowaga.

Derrick E. Stephens, who was arrested by Cheektowaga police after the break-in, his second at his ex-wife’s home since Jan. 10 despite orders of protection she obtained against him, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal contempt.

Stephens, who also was charged Saturday with burglary and criminal possession of cocaine, was jailed in January by Piotrowski for several weeks for the same type of incident involving his ex-wife’s residence.
