Farkas hears guilty pleas from two crack dealers

LOCKPORT – Men from Lockport and Niagara Falls pleaded guilty to selling crack cocaine in appearances Wednesday before Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Nathaniel Carson Jr., 23, of Clinton Street, Lockport, admitted to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and was scheduled for sentencing May 14. Farkas told him he won’t be given more than a year in the County Jail.

Carson admitted to an Oct. 22, 2012, drug deal in Lockport.

Eric James, 17, of Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty to third-degree sale and was admitted to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment. Farkas warned him he faces up to nine years in state prison if he washes out of the treatment program.

The judge seemed wary of James’ choice, since James was already in a city drug court program when he sold crack to a police informant Nov. 20 and 22. If he succeeds in the two-year diversion program, the charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a sentence of probation.
