BATAVIA – A retired Genesee County legislator topped the 42nd annual Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony Saturday in the Clarion Hotel.

Mary Pat Hancock last year closed her 20-year tenure on the legislature representing residents of the towns of Batavia and Stafford. She chaired the Legislature for 11 years before stepping down.

She was awarded the Wolcott J. Humphrey III Leadership Award, named for the late bank executive who spurred his colleagues to leadership roles.

The event, held before a crowd of more than 250, also featured 2013 awards for:

* Retail Business: Adam Miller, a near-century-old toy and bicycle shop.

* Agri-Business: Bonduelle USA, a food-processing operation.

* Special Service Recognition: Bergen Business and Civic Association.

* Geneseeans of the Year: Laurie J. Mastin, National Grid USA customer relations official, and Timothy Michael Adams, for his 4-H volunteer work.

Paul Figlow of Figlow Productions and Jay A. Gsell, county manager, emceed the reception.
