Outdoors notebook: Fishing connects at Honeoye

The Northeast Ice Fishing Circuit completed its Western New York contests for the season on Honeoye Lake last Sunday.

The team of Warren Goodenow and Jason Caudill totaled 7.78 pounds of 12 panfish to pull first prizes of Striker Hard-Water Jackets each and $320. The team weighed in 8 perch, 1 crappie and 3 bluegills taken at depths from 10 to 25 feet.

Goodenow goes with his own Grumpy Jig heads and Maki Plastics; a red plastic was most effective for him in that Saturday contest.

Jason Lamagna and Brady Stoffer took second place with a 6.4-pound total; Alex Scheg and Kevin Snyder finished a close third with 6.37 pounds. Scheg also logged Big Fish honors with a 1.14-pound perch.

Qualifiers in the Northeast Circuit travel to Lake Bomoseen in Vermont to compete in a championship event March 1 and 2. For details on this circuit, go to northeasticefishingcircuit.com.
