Twelve attorneys from Phillips Lytle were honored by the New York State Bar Association for their pro bono work under the auspices of the Empire State Counsel Program. The program gives special recognition to NYSBA members who perform 50 or more hours of pro bono service during the calendar year. The Phillips Lytle attorneys cited include: William D. Christ; Spencer L. Durland; Chad W. Flansburg; Lawrence W. Gallick; Timothy W. Hoover; Myriah V. Jaworski; Kenneth A. Manning; Susan M. Marriott; Gregory L. Peterson; Jennifer A. Shah; William J. Simon; and Geanne M. Zanatta.


Damon Morey attorney and partner, William F. Savino, was recently appointed to the Dean’s Advisory Council at the University at Buffalo School of Law. The council meets to assist the dean in the development of policies and plans for the law school. The members provide guidance and counsel to the dean on matters such as curriculum, development, alumni relations, governmental relations, public service, and administration for the school.

The Ken-Ton Primary Care Center, a department of Kenmore Mercy Hospital, was recently recognized by the National Committee on Quality Assurance for its success in creating a centralized medical home for patient care. The Patient-Centered Medical Home, the highest level recognition from NCQA, is a model of care that emphasizes a strong clinician-patient relationship in which a clinical team coordinates all aspects of patients’ health needs in order to achieve more personalized and effective delivery.


Buffalo Pumps, North Tonawanda, was awarded a $281,493 federal contract for centrifugal pumps from the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, Pa.


Launch NY, a not-for-profit venture development organization, was awarded a $125,000 grant by the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Blackstone Group, a global investment and advisory firm headquartered in New York City, to establish the Entrepreneur Institute. Launch NY is one of 17 organizations nationwide, out of more than 500 applicants, to be selected to join the 2014 Blackstone Organizational Grants Program.
