Patricia I. Johnson, retired Buffalo teacher

Patricia I. Johnson, of Buffalo, a retired teacher, died Feb. 11 in St. John the Baptist Hospice House after a short illness. She was 62.

Born in Buffalo, the former Patricia Inez Kelly attended School 6, Clinton Junior High School and East High School. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Buffalo State College.

Mrs. Johnson taught elementary grades at St. Matthew’s School, St. Ann’s School, Cornerstone Manor School and several Buffalo public schools, retiring two years ago from Harriet Tubman School 31. In 1992, she was nominated for the “Who’s Who Among American Teachers” Award.

Survivors include three daughters, Allisa, Almarie Fields and Alexis; two sisters, Katherine Brown and Kathleen Johnson; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Elim Christian Fellowship, 70 Chalmers Ave.
