Masten Clubhouse receives computer equipment

GTECH has unveiled the After School Advantage computer lab in the Masten Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo.

The lab is part of a worldwide program GTECH implemented in 1999 to serve at-risk youth in areas where the company does business. GTECH, based in Providence, R.I., is the online lottery technology provider to the New York Lottery. As part of the company donation, the Masten Clubhouse received 14 MacBook Pro computers, an HP all-in-one printer, a wireless router and a laptop cart to hold the new computers, when they are not being used.

The new computer lab will assist clubhouse members in the current after-school programs and help them learn computer skills needed to succeed in today’s society. The computers can be used for homework and research projects, and to participate in a club program focusing on teaching basic productivity software skills. Other after-school components include comprehensive reading and math assessments, hands-on science programs and career goal programs.
