Richard F. Jezioro Sr., retired postal worker, restaurateur

Richard F. Jezioro Sr., of Cheektowaga, a retired postal worker and restaurant owner, died Thursday in Buffalo General Medical Center. He was 83.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Hutchinson Central High School.

Mr. Jezioro was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He received a Postal Service life-saving award for summoning aid for a customer with medical problems.

He and his wife owned and operated the Metropolitan restaurant at Clinton Street and Harlem Road in Cheektowaga from 1979 to 1992.

Active in of Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church, he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. He also was a past president of the Civic Sportsmen Club in Kaisertown and a member of Eddie’s Social Club.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Angeline R. Krolczyk; two sisters, Mary Ann Ziolkowski and Genevieve Neurohr; four brothers, John, Edward, Joseph and Frank; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 2158 Clinton St., Cheektowaga.
