Lewiston hospital sets open house

LEWISTON – Mount St. Mary’s Hospital will host an Open House “Safari” from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, featuring tours of the facilities and departments, displays, health information, raffle prizes and refreshments.

Visitors are encouraged to enter through the main (south) entrance. Tours will be provided through the Center for Women, Diagnostic Imaging, the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, Cardiology Diagnostics and Rehabilitation, and Nutrition Services. There also will be a cooking demonstration by the hospital’s chef and information provided by the Diabetes Education Center in the cafeteria.

“This is an opportunity for the community to get a personalized tour of several of our departments and see the medical diagnostic and treatment equipment which we have invested in and utilize,” said Judith A. Maness, Mount St. Mary’s president and chief executive officer. “Our associates are proud of our services, and we are looking forward to hosting the community so we can show off what we have. ”

In addition to the tours, food and refreshments, the hospital’s physicians will give a series of health information programs.

Dr. Pirousz Fakhraei , a primary care physician, will speak on “Palliative Care” at 4 p.m. in Room 723A, while Dr. Zina Hajduczok, a cardiologist, follows at 5 on the topic “The Aging Heart.”

Dr. Brenda Perez, a primary care physician, will address “Chronic Disease Management of Patients with Diabetes” at 4 p.m. in Room 249, followed at 5 by Dr. Charles Rice, of the Wound Care Center, talking about “Healthy Choices – Healthy Life.”

Meanwhile, in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Facility on the seventh floor, physical therapists Lindsay Schultz and Kristin Barnard will discuss “Exercising with Arthritis” at 4 p.m., followed at 5 by Kathryn Kopf, addressing “Physical Therapy and Pelvic Floor Disorders: Learn How Therapy Can Help With Pelvic Pain, Urinary Leakage and Sexual Health.”
