Mary Jo Wiepert, co-owner of Cameo’s

Mary Jo Wiepert, co-owner of Cameo’s Restaurant on Niagara Falls Boulevard, died Sunday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. She was 58.

Born in Lockport, the former Mary Jo D’Ambrosia was a graduate of Kenmore West High School.

She was co-owner of Cameo’s in the Town of Tonawanda for 26 years before it closed. She volunteered for 16 years for A Taste of Buffalo and served as food service chairwoman. She and her husband also fed the less fortunate on Christmas Day in their restaurant for 17 years.

She was a world team supervisor for Herbalife International.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas H.; a daughter, Jennel L. Newman-Mellen; a son, Thomas Jr.; her mother, Lena Georger; a brother, Jeffrey D’Ambrosia; three stepsisters, Frances Dunn, Rosemary Eddy and Ann Mancuso; two stepbrothers, William Georger and Paul Georger; and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Amherst.
