The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will play a benefit concert, “A Love Letter to Buffalo” at 8 p.m. next Friday in First Presbyterian Church, One Symphony Circle, across from Kleinhans Music Hall.

Proceeds will go toward preserving the E.B. Green-designed church, which houses the city’s oldest congregation and is in urgent need of major repairs.

Conductor Paul Ferington will lead the musicians in a score for the evening that includes Beethoven’s Consecration of the House Overture, Op. 124, Valentine Elgar’s Salute d’Amour, Op. 12, a piece from Wagner’s “Procession to the Cathedral” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92.

Seating is limited to 750, with general admission tickets priced at $40 each.

Tickets can be purchased at the BPO box office, through the BPO website and at the church the night of the concert. For more information, call 531-1390.
