Bills express appreciation for state, county support

The Buffalo Bills organization Tuesday expressed its appreciation to the state and Erie County for supporting the franchise.

Monday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced that he had appointed the first five members of the New Stadium Working Group as part of the state’s efforts to keep the Bills in Buffalo.

Russ Brandon, Bills president and chief executive officer, Tuesday issued a statement saying, “Our primary current operations focus is, as it must be, on the modernization process that is occurring presently here at the Ralph Wilson Stadium campus. We have to bring it home safely, on time, on budget and with a level of quality we can all be proud of. We are confident our fans will be excited about the numerous changes taking place on our stadium campus and we look forward to being near completion by the start of the 2014 season.”

He added that the Bills look forward to continuing their negotiations with Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy and Empire State Development President Kenneth Adams, as well as County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and his staff. Duffy and Adams were named to the stadium group along with Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown, Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster and Dottie Gallagher-Cohen, chief executive officer of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.
