Several local churches will observe Buffalo Urban League Sunday this week as part of the organization’s first-ever annual fund campaign, which seeks to raise $100,000.
Each church has pledged a donation to the fund drive to help support the work of the Buffalo Urban League. Urban League Sunday is a nationwide promotion.
“At every key moment of progress toward civil rights and equal opportunity, the faith community has always been a strong ally,” said Brenda W. McDuffie, president and CEO of the Buffalo Urban League.
Congregations will be told about the Urban League’s programs, including family preservation, foster care and adoption, college scholarships, job training and its senior citizen center.
