Hamburg Police have unveiled their new SWAT Team vehicle.
It’s a $650,000 vehicle that had been obtained through the federal government’s 1033 Program, allowing U.S. Defense Department equipment to be transferred to local law enforcement agencies at minimal cost to the local taxpayers.
Several local businesses donated time and resources to help put the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle into service.
Towne Chrysler Jeep painted it, 10-75 Emergency Lighting installed the lighting, X-press Signs did the lettering and seat covers were provided by ATM Restyle. Employees from the police and highway departments also worked on the vehicle.
The MRAP will be assigned to the SWAT Team as a transport and rescue vehicle, and it will be shared with other municipalities through mutual aid as the need arises.
