Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner promoted Nicholas Morreale, CPA, to principal and Michelle Scott, CPA to senior manager. Morreale joined the firm as an audit manager in 2006. He graduated from Niagara University. Scott joined the firm as an audit manager in 2011. She received her MBA at St. John’s University.


Villa Maria College named Ryan Hartnett assistant vice president for academic affairs, Blythe Kaczmarczyk director of career services and Daniel Hopen animation instructor. Hartnett was a professor and an academic administrator at Trocaire Collge. He earned a bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo. Kaczmarczyk, with more than 10 years of experience at Baker Victory Services, was a mentor at SUNY Buffalo State. She received an MBA from Canisius College and a bachelor’s degree from Fredonia State College. Hopen was a professor at DeTao Masters Academy in Beijing. He received a M.A. from the New York Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto.


The Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island named Roy Pasieka commodore for 2014. Other officers: Vice Commodore, Bob De Glopper; rear commodore, Rhonda Ried; fleet captain, Ronald Molnar; secretary, John Tommasulo; and treasurer, Mark Hoey. Directors: Andy Barbasch, Frank DeGeorge, Dan Georger, Jim Kalec, Rick Lewis and Dave Specker.

SUNY Buffalo State recently celebrated the opening of the new Argo Tea Café in E.H. Butler Library. Argo Tea offers a line of all-natural fresh foods and baked goods to complement its signature teas and beverages. The $630,000 project was designed by BHNT Architects.


CRA Infrastructure & Engineering was awarded three 2014 engineering excellence awards by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York for the following projects in Western and Central New York State: Platinum: Parker Fries Interceptor Project, Phase 1, Town of Tonawanda. Gold: Phosphorus TMDL Success Story for Onondaga Lake, Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection; and Silver: Buffalo Water Treatment Plant High Service Pumping Energy Efficiency Upgrades, City of Buffalo/Buffalo Water Board. Moog Inc., East Aurora, was awarded a $4.8 million federal contract for the repair of electro-mechanical actuators from the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Philadelphia.


Schunke Insurance Agency, a West Seneca insurance provider, recently made a $1,000 donation to the West Seneca Flood Victims Fund.
