Donald Kane was always there for his grandson Patrick. He was at the NHL draft, just months after heart surgery, when Chicago chose Patrick Kane first overall. Donald helped drop the first puck for Patrick’s first game in Buffalo against the Sabres.
Sadly for the Kane family, Donald died Monday. Kane honored him during and after Monday’s game with the Blackhawks, scoring twice in the 5-3 win over Los Angeles and telling everyone how great his grandfather was as a friend and role model.
