NIAGARA FALLS – The Niagara County Health Department announced Monday that it has fined two stores $750 each for selling tobacco products to minors without checking their ages.
Environmental Health Director James J. Devald said the fines were imposed on Gulf Express, 2221 Hyde Park Blvd., and on the Tops Market at 7200 Niagara Falls Blvd., for a sale at its gasoline kiosk. Both were first-time violators.
Both violations occurred Oct. 18, Devald said. They were the only ones found in 118 compliance checks of stores by teenage volunteers working under supervision of the Niagara County Sheriff’s office between April 1 and Dec. 31.
