A Sports Card Expo will be held Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Clarion Hotel, 8250 Park Road, in Batavia. Scheduled to sign autographs include former Buffalo Bills Don Beebe, Scott Norwood, and Lou Piccone, along with former Dallas Cowboys greats Danny White and Bill Bates. Former New York Mets and Yankees stars Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry, along with former Baltimore Orioles manager Joe Altobelli, will also take part in the event. BASEBALL: North Tonawanda American Babe Ruth Baseball will hold registration for the 2014 season for all players ages 4-18 on Saturday and March 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the North Tonawanda High School library lobby, 405 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda. BASKETBALL: North American Youth Sports has openings in its spring youth tournament at Gloria Parks Community Center, Sweet Home High School, and Daemen College on March 28-30. The tournament will feature 10 brackets, divided by age and gender, and is open to boys and girls grades 5-12. Cost is $110 and guarantees each team a minimum of two games. Entry deadline is March 7. LACROSSE: St. Mary’s High School has an opening for a boy’s varsity lacrosse coach. Job requirements include CPR/AED certification, must be willing to acquire VIRTUS certification, flexible schedule from March to May, with lacrosse coaching experience preferred. Salary is $1,800. MEMORABILIA: From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 22, Bases Loaded will host Charles Stabile, regional sales manager with Beckett Grading Services. BGS-graded cards will be returned in a unique, protective cardholder. Beckett uses an easy-to-understand 1 to 10 point grading scale to rate sports cards, which are graded on four key categories: centering, corners, edges and surface. Beckett also grades non-sports cards, photos, magazines, pocket schedules, gaming cards, and tickets.
