LOCKPORT – The state Health Department announced Tuesday that it has approved the reappointment of Daniel J. Stapleton as Niagara County public health director for a second six-year term.
The county Board of Health, which chooses the health director, had written to Albany last month seeking approval for a new term for Stapleton, who has held the post since 2007.
After nearly a year as interim director, Stapleton officially started his first full term on Jan. 9, 2008. He has been serving as a holdover since then.
Stapleton served as deputy director and financial director for the Health Department before being promoted to the department head post.
He is budgeted to earn $108,967 this year, although the Board of Health has the ability to recommend a raise to the County Legislature.
