GOP chairman recommends new elections commissioner

LOCKPORT – Niagara County Republican Chairman Scott P. Kiedrowski said Tuesday that he is recommending the appointment of Jennifer A. Fronczak of North Tonawanda as the next GOP elections commissioner.

If the party committee approves at a scheduled meeting Thursday and the County Legislature ratifies the choice, Fronczak will succeed Mary Ann L. Casamento, who retired Dec. 31, as Republican commissioner. Lora A. Allen is her Democratic counterpart.

Fronczak, 29, has worked at the Board of Elections since then-Commissioner Kiedrowski hired her in September 2005. She is currently a clerk/machine technician earning $38,550 a year. The commissioner’s post pays $53,000.

“I met with Scott a couple of months back, and he thought it would be a smooth transition,” said Fronczak.

“We have an individual who has many years of experience,” Kiedrowski said. “We have an individual who can step in in a heartbeat.”

Fronczak said she intends to keep Michael P. Carney, of North Tonawanda, as deputy commissioner. “He and I work well together,” she said.
