The Iroquois School Board invites residents to the first in a series of budget workshops at 6:30 p.m. today in the Middle School auditorium.
Among items to be discussed is the inclusion of a school resource officer in the 2014-15 budget.
Superintendent Douglas Scofield said that in an exit poll last year, residents supported the new position by a 7-1 margin.
Currently, the district shares a resource officer with four other districts, which means the officer is on the Iroquois campus just one day a week. The superintendent did not put a dollar figure on the new position but said the Elma Town Board has been working in cooperation with the district toward this goal.
At the workshops, school officials will discuss the budget process and take questions from the public.
Other workshops will be held Feb. 25, March 6 and March 19.
