A member of the 10th Street Gang was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to 78 months in prison.

Melvin Medina, 29, of Buffalo, had previously pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge in connection with his gang involvement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi said Medina possessed firearms and sold crack cocaine and marijuana in the West Side territory controlled by the gang.

Medina is the 28th member of 10th Street to have been convicted as part of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
