Two Grand Island residents were charged with driving while intoxicated Monday night following unrelated incidents, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responding shortly after 7 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle, property-damage accident on Broadway Road determined that Mark Homa, 52, was intoxicated, authorities reported. A breath test indicated Homa had a blood-alcohol content of .17, deputies said.

Shortly before 11 p.m., a vehicle was stopped on Grand Island Boulevard because the view through its window was obstructed. Deputies said Eric Stephenson, 27, was taken into custody on a DWI charge, but refused to submit to a breath test.

Both drivers were released on tickets to appear in Grand Island Town Court.
