One man killed in QEW hit and run near Niagara Falls, Ont.

FORT ERIE, Ont. – A 33-year-old man from Lincoln, Ont., was killed about 8 p.m. Monday by a hit and run driver on the Queen Elizabeth Way in the lanes to Fort Erie near McLeod Road in Niagara Falls, Ont.

The driver of the vehicle in which the victim was a passenger and another passenger were both hospitalized with accident-related non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Niagara Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

The dead man was identified as Gordon Hall, but OPP officials would not identify the two hospitalized passengers of the SUV that was being driven by a 51-year-old woman who lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail, ejecting both Hall and her other male passenger, also 33.

Hall, laying in the road, was struck by another vehicle which drove off without stopping. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP officials would not say if Hall and the two injured persons in the SUV were related. The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle was being sought, and anyone with knowledge is asked to contact the Niagara OPP Detachment at 905-356-1311.
