Albion (8-6, 7-3 N-O), its lineup made up completely of underclass players, kept its hold on third-place in the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball with a 59-57 win over visiting CSAT. Kelsey Soule, a sophomore and Chanyce Powell, a freshman, led the Purple Eagles with 18 points each.
The other three Albion starters are juniors -- Justice Nauden, Sarah Metzler and Amanda Covis. And the first player off the bench is a freshman, Emily Blanchard. Mia Jones of CSAT was high scorer in the game with 24 points.
The game was one of the few high school sports events scheduled for Tuesday that went off as planned because many school systems in Western New York were closed because of the extreme cold and snow.
