During “Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Saturday, many of the 37 Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries will be offering family-friendly programming, including crafts, games, storytelling and movies.

This will be “a perfect day” to introduce children to libraries and obtain a free library card, Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski said. The concept was popularized In 2012 by a children’s librarian in Waterford, Conn., and this year, nearly 400 libraries nationwide are participating, including Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries – the latter, for the first time.
