Traffic stop on Route 33 leads to DWI arrest

A Buffalo resident pulled over for speeding on Route 33 Wednesday night was charged with driving while intoxicated, state police reported this morning.

Troopers said a car traveling at 90 mph in the 55 mph zone was pulled over at about 10:10 p.m. in city limits. Brian F. Madden, 35, of Sagamore Terrace, showed signs of intoxication and failed roadside sobriety tests, troopers said.

Madden submitted to a breath test, which indicated a blood-alcohol content of .09, troopers said.

A plastic bag containing a small amount of crack cocaine was found, troopers said, leading to a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Madden, who also was cited for vehicle and traffic violations, was released on a ticket to appear in Buffalo City Court.
