A 10th Street Gang member who admitted taking part in three shootings has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to 19 years in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi said Justin Augus pleaded guilty to weapons possession and racketeering conspiracy charges in connection with his involvement with the West Side gang.

As part of his plea deal, Augus admitted taking part in three shootings in 2008 and 2009, including two that resulted in rival 7th Street Gang members being injured.

Augus’ sentence is the result of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
