Cardinal O’Hara, the No. 1 large school in The News polls, suffered its first loss this season in overtime Saturday at the Martin Luther King Showcase in Erie, Pa., but bounced back with a victory Sunday night.

O’Hara fell to Franklin (Pa.) in overtime, 76-75, on Saturday. The event’s matchups were predetermined and on Sunday the Hawks rolled to a 62-48 victory over local Erie team McDowell.

Seniors Jontay Walton, Kelsey McCarthy and Keyonte Edwards all scored 14 points for O’Hara (13-1), which built a 33-18 lead at halftime and had it surpass 30 in the second half. McDowell beat No. 6 Nardin Saturday.

On Saturday, Edwards had 19 points and 10 rebounds, McCarthy had 18 and Walton had 17. Angela Starr, who led Franklin (8-4) with 36 points, hit two free throws to send the game into overtime. Franklin built a four-point lead before Jailyn Dickson hit a three-pointer with one second left.
